The exhibition “A POEM IN MY HEART” have held from 3 March 2022 (Thursday) to 28 August 2022 (Sunday). Yayoi Kusama Museum welcomes you to go on a journey through the world of Yayoi Kusama’s art and experience the fascinating museum. Exploring the precious artworks born from her imaginative sensibility over the years will certainly be enriching.
Yayoi Kusama's source of creation is extremely personal, such as her childhood hallucinations and visions that spring up in her heart. It has been highly evaluated by experts such as art critic, Shuzo Takiguchi and painter, Nobuya Abe. It is rational in her creation that Kusama's work, which is not caught in anything, has already shown outstanding originality from that time, and at the same time, it is "only my inner issue". It can be said that we can find expressions that are compatible with Surrealism, focusing on the unlimited imagination and inner image that have been unleashed from our thoughts.
In this exhibition, a variety of works by Kusama are introduced, which is reminiscent of Surrealism, which reflects the images that overflow from her inside and the conflicts of her heart as they are. You can see the continuity of the image in the accumulation of organic forms, including the two-dimensional works using various materials and expressions such as Japanese painting, oil painting, watercolor, pastel when she started her creative activities. Exhibitions of three-dimensional works and installations based on her own hallucinatory experience. In addition, her latest large acrylic painting series "My Eternal Soul", which depicts the vision that comes to her mind along with the movement of her brush, are exhibited. From the beginning to the present, please take a look at Kusama's rich creative expression created by the image in her heart that proliferates without running out.

A museum opened by Yayoi Kusama, the internationally acclaimed artist, in October 2017. A collection of Kusama’s works are exhibited approx twice a year, and it also holds lectures. Run by the Yayoi Kusama Foundation, its aim is to promote Kusama’s artworks and to contribute to the development of the art world as a whole. At the entrance, visitors are greeted by polka dots all over the glass surface. Once you are drawn into Yayoi Kusama’s world, you can enjoy numerous valuable artworks and materials as you make your way to the top floor. With detailed designs even in the elevators and the lavatories, the Museum offers a unique experience to immerse yourself in the art of Yayoi Kusama.
