From Saturday, 28 to Monday, 30 September 2024, Whisky Live Paris will celebrate its 20th anniversary. Bolstered by its growing success since 2004, the world's largest whisky and spirits tasting event is expanding even further and will occupy more than 15,000 m² of La Grande Halle de la Villette. Over the years, Whisky Live Paris has established itself as the event of the year for the spirits industry. Each edition has showcased the developments and changes at play in the sector, setting and highlighting trends, promoting rising stars, and uncovering consumer habits. Reflecting its pivotal position on both the French and international scene, the 2024 edition of Whisky Live Paris will also host the French edition of the prestigious World Drinks Awards.
The World Drinks Awards, introduced in 2007, recognizes the best products in every drink style based on blind tastings by independent international experts. The competition brings international attention to winning products and brands. Under the aegis of Whisky Live Paris and Whisky Magazine, the World Drinks Awards will debut in France in 2024 with the first edition of the World Drinks Awards France. This French version will spotlight French gin and whisky, highlighting the country's producers' creativity. French whisky will be honored in four sub-categories: single malts, single grains, single casks, and blends. French gin will be represented by two sub-categories: classic gin and contemporary style gin.
The 20th edition will see the show's historic spaces, the Tasting Hall and Rhum Gallery, expand further. New additions include the Agave Patio, paying tribute to the growing tequila and mezcal market, and the return of Gin Lane and the Sake District. The event will also feature the Carré Collectors, showcasing collectable rums and whiskies, and host Fine Spirits Auction. The Masterclass Forum will return with a program of around forty masterclasses from industry leaders. With more than 40 countries represented and 300 distilleries and brands from 5 continents, Whisky Live Paris 2024 is set to celebrate its 20th anniversary in exceptional style. Some 2,000 bottlings will be available to taste, including 350 new releases unveiled as world exclusives. Alongside Whisky Live, Cocktail Street returns for its 8th edition, offering a festive, cutting-edge program open to all members of the public.
Over its 20-year history, Whisky Live Paris has grown from 2,000 visitors in 2004 to attracting some 20,000 enthusiasts from all over the world today. The event has evolved from 58 exhibitors in 2004 to 250 in 2023, with many brands participating since the start. From its origins at the Palais Brogniart to its current home at La Grande Halle de la Villette, Whisky Live Paris has consistently chosen prestigious Parisian venues. The 2024 edition's expansive 15,000 m² space reflects the event's growing renown and exceptional popularity in the global spirits scene.
