Yoshiko Mori has overseen the planning of 64 exhibitions during her 22-year tenure, leading Japan’s contemporary art scene. After stepping down, she will continue to support the museum’s operations as Honorary Chairperson.
The incoming Chairperson, Mori Kyoko, has been serving on the museum’s Board of Trustees since June 2019. She brings extensive experience in the cultural arts sector, holding roles as a Trustee of the Obayashi Foundation since June 2022 and as a Board Director of the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra since June 2023. Her involvement in these foundations reflects her dedication to fostering cultural development.
Under the new leadership, Mori Art Museum will continue its commitment to its founding mission of “Art + Life,” striving for a vibrant society where art integrates into every aspect of life. The museum will uphold its dedication to the principles of “contemporary” and “international,” foundational values that have guided its operations since opening in 2003.
Since its establishment alongside the development of Roppongi Hills, Mori Art Museum has presented a diverse range of exhibitions that encompass contemporary art, architecture, design, fashion, and technology. The art community is closely watching to see how the museum will evolve with this new leadership.
