Art, culture, technology and sustainability converge at the iconic ArtScience Museum from 1-30 September 2023 through new interactive and immersive experiences, ‘Aquasia’; ‘Geylang Crunk’; and ‘Sky Farm Island’.
Singapore, 7 August 2023 – The MeshMinds Foundation returns to ArtScience Museum for the third time with MeshMinds 3.0: ArtxTechforGood. This immersive showcase, supported by The Arts Fund, invites young visitors to try extended reality (XR), Metaverse and gaming prototypes developed using the latest 3D world building platforms and artificial intelligence tools. These fun, educational, experimental experiences encourage visitors to 'play for the planet' and learn about the importance of protecting our culture and the environment in the digital age. The ultimate goal is to inspire youth to build cities of the future that are inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable, in support of Goal 11 of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
In the Curiosity Gallery, younger audiences aged 8-12 will have the opportunity to explore 'Sky Farm Island,' a groundbreaking sustainable farming experience, inspired by community farms in Singapore, created by MeshMinds for the Roblox platform. This interactive journey through sustainable agricultural practices is designed to captivate young minds, inspire them to shop and grow locally. In doing so, the game hopes to sow the seeds of healthy eating in a new, engaging and enjoyable way.
For older audiences aged 13 and above, the VR Gallery awaits, where 'Aquasia' and 'Geylang Crunk' will transport visitors into imaginative and immersive realms, pushing the boundaries of creativity and storytelling within the virtual space. 'Aquasia', created by MeshMinds and its collaborating partner, Metamo Industries, offers a journey into an imaginary marine utopia that offers hope for the future of human habitats in the face of rising sea levels. 'Geylang Crunk' by Metamo Industries showcases local musicians and artists to promote Asian representation in immersive media. Each VR experience, carefully crafted by award-winning digital artists, filmmakers and world builders based in Southeast Asia, offers an opportunity for teenagers and young adults to delve into visionary worlds that promote Asian culture and inspire action towards a more sustainable future in the face of a changing climate.
MeshMinds 3.0: ArtxTechforGood explores the convergence of art, culture, technology, and sustainability and will be accompanied by an exciting two-day forum, “Conversations for People and Planet" in the ArtScience Cinema on 8 & 9 September.
