Kering Continues to Champion Women Photographers Through Global Initiatives

Kering's Women In Motion program strengthens its commitment to promoting women in photography with a series of significant exhibitions and partnerships throughout 2024-2025. The luxury group announces its fourth consecutive collaboration with the Elles x Paris Photo program, while expanding its support to include four galleries at the international photography fair.

KERING WOMEN IN MOTION

The renewed partnership with Elles x Paris Photo, scheduled for November 7-10, 2024, at the Grand Palais, marks a significant milestone in advancing women's representation in photography. Under the curation of Raphaëlle Stopin, Director of the Centre Photographique Rouen Normandie, the program has contributed to a remarkable increase in women photographers' presence at the fair, rising from 20% in 2018 to 38% in 2024.

In a groundbreaking move, Kering extends its support to four distinguished galleries - Martini & Ronchetti, Higher Pictures, Nadja Vilenne, and Monitor - each presenting exhibitions dedicated to women photographers. This initiative reinforces the company's commitment to promoting gender equality in the arts.

The program also celebrates the centenary of Sabine Weiss, the 2020 Women In Motion Award recipient for photography, with two major exhibitions. The first, "Sabine Weiss & Nathalie Boutté: homage" at Photo Elysée in Lausanne (June 22, 2024 - January 12, 2025), features an innovative dialogue between Weiss's street photography and Boutté's paper-based interpretations of her work.

Berlin's f³ - freiraum für fotografie hosts Germany's first retrospective of Weiss's work, "Sabine Weiss, A Photographer's Life" (September 6 - November 24, 2024). The exhibition, which Weiss helped develop before her passing, showcases her enduring passion for capturing the human condition through original prints, archival documents, and films.

Earlier this year, Women In Motion supported the "Vivian Maier: Unseen Work" exhibition at Fotografiska New York, attracting 83,000 visitors. The comprehensive showcase presented 200 works spanning three decades, including vintage and modern prints, Super 8 films, and soundtracks.

Since its inception at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival, Women In Motion has evolved into a vital platform for advancing gender equality in arts and culture. The program encompasses various creative fields, offering awards, talks, and podcasts that celebrate women's achievements and facilitate important discussions about representation.
