Highlights of Art Basel Miami Beach 2023

Miami Beach, FL — Art Basel Miami Beach, the leading art fair in the Americas, is set to return with a flourish for its 2023 edition. The fair, which will take place at the Miami Beach Convention Center from December 8-10, with preview days on December 6 and 7, is expanding its offerings with a rich array of galleries, installations, and cultural events.

Premier International Galleries and Newcomers

Art Basel will welcome 277 top-tier galleries from around the globe, including 25 first-time exhibitors. With two-thirds of the participants hailing from North and Latin America, the fair reaffirms its position as a significant meeting point for the Americas' art scene.


Meridians: Monumental Artworks with a Message

The Meridians sector, dedicated to large-scale artworks, will feature 19 projects, including new and site-specific works. Curated by Magalí Arriola of Museo Tamayo Arte Contemporaneo, this year's focus is on artworks that reflect our relationship with the planet. Highlights include a new installation by Ja’Tovia Gary and sculptures by Hew Locke.


Kabinett: Curated Installations within Main Booths

The Kabinett sector is returning with 28 curated installations presented by 30 galleries. This includes the U.S. solo debut of British painter Caroline Coon and new works by Cherokee artist Kay WalkingStick.


Conversations: Live Debates on Art and Culture

Art Basel’s free Conversations program will feature live debates among cultural leaders, with a special emphasis on celebrating Latin America. The discussions, taking place from December 7-9, will explore various aspects of the global art scene.


Expansive Cultural Programming Across Miami Beach

Beyond the convention center, Art Basel will collaborate with institutions and cultural partners for an extensive program of exhibitions and events. This includes shows at The Bass, ICA Miami, and PAMM, featuring artists like Hernan Bas, Anne Duk Hee Jordan, and Gary Simmons.

Directors at the Helm


Vincenzo de Bellis, the current Director of Fairs and Exhibition Platforms at Art Basel, is spearheading this year's fair. Bridget Finn will take over as Director of Art Basel Miami Beach starting in 2024.


Additional Sectors and Highlights

The fair will also feature its Galleries, Nova, Positions, and Survey sectors, presenting a diverse range of artworks and solo presentations. These include a tribute to Brockman Gallery and new sculptures by Daniel Lind-Ramos.
